Free wheels are included with the purchase of a Taylor Morrison home in Arizona over the next six weeks.

The Scottsdale builder, with about 40 developments in metro Phoenix, is offering a free Segway Personal Transporter (PT) Model i2 to buyers of its new homes between Oct. 17 and Nov. 30.

Customers can test drive a Segway or watch demonstrations from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at a few of the homebuilder’s communities. They are Estrella in Buckeye; Surprise Farms in Surprise; and at Lakeview Trails and Shamrock Estates in Gilbert.

According to Segway, it costs about 10 cents to charge the personal transporter. A dime is much less than the cost of fuel needed to drive back and forth between friends’ homes or run errands in the community. The Segway PT has a range of 24 miles and a top speed of 12.5 mph.

The two-wheeled personal transporter is one of four new-home packages offered by the builder. The others include all appliances and window coverings; a media center package with a 50-inch plasma television; and a backyard landscaping option.

Earlier this summer, Taylor Morrison gave away a new home in the company’s Dream Home Sweepstakes.  The winner was a single mother in California who selected a new home in a Taylor Morrison community near Sacramento.
