More than 100 employees of a Scottsdale homebuilder recently donated their time and energy to clean apartments for needy families.

The workers from Taylor Morrison Inc. cleaned eight East Valley apartments on behalf of Save the Family Foundation of Arizona. The cleanup at the Mesa apartments consisted of painting the interiors, landscape maintenance, washing windows, and general cleanup work to improve the curb appeal of the property.

Save the Family, which is based in Mesa, helps children in homeless families by treating the family units with programs designed to break the cycles of poverty, abuse and homelessness.

“There is a great need for organizations like Save the Family, especially in tough economic times,” said Charlie Enochs, president of Taylor Morrison’s Phoenix division.

Among social service agencies, there is a growing concern about the increasing numbers of homeowners facing foreclosure and apartment tenants facing eviction. Officials are saying the national economic downturn and rising unemployment may translate into a larger need for transitional housing for families from low to moderate-income levels.

Taylor Morrison is a national homebuilder with headquarters in Scottsdale. Its Phoenix division is the company’s largest, with about 40 new home communities in the Valley and Casa Grande.
