Snow Dusted the Mountains North of Phoenix

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Residents of metropolitan Phoenix received a visual breakfast treat today – snow on the mountains immediately north of the city. A Pacific storm, the latest in a series, dumped more than half an inch of rain across parts of the region overnight. But at higher elevations north of Phoenix, colder temperatures turned the rain to 2 or more inches of snow. In Tucson, the road to the top of Mount Lemmon was closed to all motorists except residents with four-wheel-drive vehicles or chains. The Arizona storm was part of the weather system that dropped much more rain and snow in California. Copyright photo by Mike Padgett
