TEMPE, Ariz. – An upscale convenience store and a company selling two-wheeled electric vehicles are the newest tenants of Hayden Ferry Lakeside in Tempe.

City Market and Deli and Segway of Tempe are moving into the high-end office, residential and commercial development on the south bank of Tempe Town Lake. The leases were signed with SunCor Development Co., developer of Hayden Ferry Lakeside.

City Market and Deli is leasing more than 2,000 square feet of space on the first floor of the development’s retail office loft. Opening is scheduled by early March. The market-deli will have a salad bar and sell New York-style sandwiches and high-end domestic beer and wine, says owner Steve Putrus.

“Hayden Ferry Lakeside is the perfect location for us, based on the quality of tenants and businesses in the development,” Putrus said in a SunCor press release.

Segway of Tempe is leasing 1,000 square feet, also on the first floor of the retail office loft. It will be the third Segway dealership in Arizona, and only the second dealership in metro Phoenix. Opening is set for May. Co-owner Brian Lamacchia says the lake “and the incredible architecture of Hayden Ferry Lakeside mde our decision for a Tempe location simple.”

Segway of Tempe also will provide 90-minute tours around the lake on the two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicles.

Hayden Ferry Lakeside’s retail office loft has more than 20,000 square feet, including 5,000 square feet for retail tenants and 15,000 square feet for offices.
